In January, 1973, thirty-five years ago, the Flanagan’s left the farm in West Texas for a full-time gospel music ministry. They were both saved at Twenty-Fifth Street Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX under the pastorate of Brother Bert J. Homer. They are now sent out by the Central Baptist Church of Whitesboro, TX. Dr. Joe Patterson, Pastor.
John has written over 500 songs and received two honorary doctorates degrees: Doctor of Divinity from Louisiana Baptist Seminary, Shreveport, LA in November, 1988, and Doctor of Sacred Music from Great Plains Baptist Divinity School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in August, 1990.
In 2007 Johnny and Nelda received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Texas International Music Association. Nelda, with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting and a Graduate Diploma from the Nancy Taylor Course in Charm & Modeling, has written several songs and coordinated and taught Ladies Ministries and Retreats for over twenty years. In 2005 she launched a Christian growth ministry for ladies entitled “The Heart of Beauty”.
Together Johnny and Nelda have recorded thirty-four works including record albums, 8-tracks, cassettes, Cds and DVDs. They have appeared in thousands of Baptist churches and traveled over 1.5 million miles and into almost every state in the US with trips into Canada and Mexico. At this time they have radio programs in Missouri and Oklahoma and hope to add Texas and New Mexico in 2008.

Their life verse is Romans 12:1 ” I beseech ye, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

Their goal in life is to “GO until we are GONE!”
